Cranfield: Part-time Working After the Pandemic: the impact of the flexible furlough scheme

Friday 03 February 2023

Cranfield School of Management published a report on part-time working after the pandemic and the impact of the flexible furlough scheme. The research found that using the flexible furlough scheme created opportunities for employers to learn about part-time working and employers become more open to offering part-time working opportunities. Some practical recommendations for managers include:

  • Organising availability patterns of team members to suit business needs.
  • Being open to part-time working, whilst taking into account business needs.
  • Calibrating workload to working hours.
  • Matching resources to periods of peak demand.

CMI sat on the project Steering Group for this research.
